EBARA Corp. revolutionizes it's P&ID creation for Oil and Gas project using Visio P&ID Process Designer

Established in 1912, EBARA has been at the forefront of developing some of the world’s most advanced fluid technologies. EBARA Group has specialized in the fields of fans and blowers, chillers, environmental plants, machinery industry, pumps to petrochemical plant, power plant and water-related facilities. EBARA maintains its ability to provide dependable products and services for customer satisfaction through constantly refining and redefining their products and services. EBARA consists of three in-house companies: the Fluid Machinery and Systems Company, specializing in pumps, compressors, and other equipment; the Environmental Engineering Company, which builds and operates waste incineration plants; and the Precision Machinery Company, which focuses on semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
" Visio P&ID Process Designer is a very cost effective solution which addressed our pain areas and significantly reducing the time required for P&ID creation. Inbuilt auto-checking tool help in reducing the manual efforts."
The Fluid Machinery and System Company department is a part where the engineers are involved in conceptual P&IDs which is considered as a standard document throughout the plant life cycle. These P&IDs also involve various types of customer approved documents such as P&ID, equipment list, pipeline list, etc. and get the approval from them before proceeding for the fabrication process. However, due to the involvement of multiple people working on the same P&ID, it results in repetition and duplication of information. For this reason, the customer used to spend an incredibly long time to complete all the documentation work.
As a manufacturer, the company was looking for a tool that would help them to reduce time in verification and approval of documents such as P&IDs and the reports generated at various levels which had to be submitted to the customer. Various teams worked on a single project with different databases, thus resulting in duplication of data and required time for verification of the P&IDs and reports. In short, the customer was looking for a single database where company standard information can be stored and is accessible by the engineers at any level.

Hideki Fujieda is a High Pressure Pumps Design Team Leader at Ebara Corp. He has been working at Ebara for past 13years. With such a wide experience and expertise, he is leading the Design team with almost 40 engineers working under his guidance. He majorly deals in conceptual P&IDs, and making sure the information in the P&ID is optimum. He successfully delivered P&IDs for major projects all across the globe.

While searching for the tool they came across Visio P&ID Process Designer as the best solution which would help the customer to overcome the challenges. The solution not only helped to overcome the challenges, but it was also cost-effective which helped them to expand and implement the solution throughout the engineering team. They standardized the library on the server which was accessible by the entire engineering team. With the inbuilt database, the changes were also controlled by limiting the level of access to the team. The inbuilt library had a large number of symbols as per various industry standards like ASME, ANSI, PIP, ISO, ISA, and many more. With this facility the company was also able to customize and standardize its own library, thus resulting in flexibility and defining their own standard library. The biggest achievement for the company was exponentially reducing the time required for documentation and verification of the reports.
